Программа-вымогатель MNX — это новый клон, который расширяет семейство вариантов программ-вымогателей Phobos.

MNX ведет себя во многом так же, как и другие недавние клоны Фобоса. Он будет шифровать файлы на подключенных системных дисках и запрашивать выкуп.

Зашифрованные файлы проходят через изменение имени, так как программа-вымогатель MNX добавляет длинное новое расширение, состоящее из строки идентификатора пользователя, адреса электронной почты, используемого хакерами, и строки «.MNX». Файл с именем «image.jpg» превратится в «image.jpg.id[идентификатор жертвы].[decrypt@techie.com].MNX».

Типы файлов, которые будут зашифрованы в зараженной системе, включают в себя обычные документы, медиафайлы, архивы и базы данных.

Как только программа-вымогатель завершит шифрование системы, она поместит свои требования о выкупе в два файла с именами «info.txt» и «info.hta». Файл HTA отображается во всплывающем окне и содержит более полную версию примечания о выкупе, которая выглядит следующим образом:
