MNX ransomware es un nuevo clon que amplía la familia de variantes de ransomware Phobos.
MNX se comporta en gran medida como otros clones recientes de Phobos. Cifrará los archivos en las unidades del sistema conectadas y pedirá un rescate.
Los archivos cifrados pasan por un cambio de nombre, ya que el ransomware MNX agrega una nueva extensión larga que consiste en la cadena de identificación del usuario, el correo electrónico utilizado por los piratas informáticos y la cadena ".MNX". Un archivo llamado "image.jpg" se convertirá en "image.jpg.id[ID de la víctima].[decrypt@techie.com].MNX".
Los tipos de archivos que se cifrarán en un sistema infectado incluyen los habituales: documentos, archivos multimedia, archivos y bases de datos.
Una vez que el ransomware termine de encriptar el sistema, dejará caer sus demandas de rescate dentro de dos archivos llamados "info.txt" e "info.hta". El archivo HTA se muestra en una ventana emergente y contiene la versión más exhaustiva de la nota de rescate, que dice lo siguiente:
