How to Set up and Use Microsoft Authenticator Qr Code
Microsoft Authenticator is an account verification app that lets you sign in to your Microsoft account with greater security while being very easy to use.
These days we have to juggle so many different passwords for different apps, devices, and websites that it can become a chore to remember them all. That's why the Microsoft Authenticator app is useful. The app lets you sign in to your Microsoft account from any device without needing your password. For extra security, there is also a two-step verification tool, which utilizes your fingerprint, face recognition, or a PIN to log in to your Microsoft Account through your phone.
Here's how to set up the app:
- First, you must download the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Then you must sign in to your account.
- Choose "Approve from the Microsoft Authenticator notification".
- Use the Microsoft Authenticator app verification code to sign in to your account.
By using the Microsoft Authenticator app, you can choose between basic authentication or two-step verification for greater security. Two-step verification will need you to enter a separate passcode or PIN provided via a phone call or text message. The passcodes are time-based and used one time only like all standard two-step verification codes.
There are three types of codes: One-time passcodes, Timed one-time passcodes, and Hash-based message authentication code (HMAC) one-time passcodes.
You will have to add your Microsoft account to the Microsoft Authenticator app. This is how you can do that:
- Launch the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
- Choose "Add account" from the Customize and control icon located in the upper right corner.
- Select Personal account in the Add account page.
- Enter your personal account and hit the Next button.
- Enter your password, and then select Sign in.
Now, your personal Microsoft account is available via the Microsoft Authenticator app. The Microsoft Authenticator app will be available to verify your account each time you enter your account from a new device.
- To verify your computer, sign in to your account with your username and password as you usually would.
- Press "Approve from the Microsoft Authenticator approval notification sent to your mobile device".
- Log in to your account on your PC using the Microsoft Authenticator app verification code sent to your smartphone.
- You can also receive the two-step verification code through an automated phone call or text message.
