Remove Krlock Ransomware

ransomware

Ransomware is a type of malware, which focuses on encrypting the files of its victims. Not only is its attack very damaging, but it may also prevent you from using certain apps on your device. Needless to say, it is in your best interest to take the required measures to prevent such attacks from happening. Dealing with the consequences of a ransomware attack is never easy, and you should avoid this at all costs. One of the popular ransomware families in recent months has been the MedusaLocker Ransomware. Recently, security experts came across a new variant of this malware – the Krlock Ransomware. Another relatively popular MedusaLocker variant is the L54 Ransomware.

The Krlock Ransomware may be delivered to victims all over the world through fake downloads, malicious email attachments, pirated games/software, or other misleading content. In addition to staying away from these types of content, you should make sure to keep your system protected by a reputable antivirus tool. If you do not take the necessary security measures, you may fall victim to the Krlock Ransomware attack and lose your files.

Krlock Ransomware Goes After Important Files

When this ransomware infects a machine, it encrypts documents, media, archives, backups, databases, and other files. These files are marked with the '.krlock' extension after the attack. The ransomware also drops the 'Recovery_Instructions.html' ransom message. It advises the victim to avoid 3rd-party recovery options and warns them that they may cause more damage to their data. The criminals propose a paid solution – send some Bitcoin to their wallet in exchange for a decryption tool. They also supply a link to a TOR-based payment page and the emails diniaminius@winrof.com and soterissylla@wyseil.com.

Co-operating with ransomware operators is never a good idea. It is incredibly easy for them to scam their victims, and paying them is likely to end up costing you both your money and your files. The advice of security experts is to eliminate ransomware by using an up-to-date antivirus scanner. After this, proceed to recover files from a backup or use alternative data recovery options.
