How to Avoid Itspeedg.com Ads

browser hijacker

Our researchers have identified Itspeedg.com as a rogue webpage during routine investigations of untrustworthy websites. This page is made to promote malicious software and browser notifications spam, as well as redirecting visitors to other suspicious sites.

Itspeedg.com is usually reached through redirects from pages that are using malicious advertising networks. Depending on the visitor's IP address and location, the behavior of this page may vary. For example, when we tested itspeedg.com it displayed the message "Your download link is ready…/ If link is not clickable, copy and paste it into the address bar." When we copied this link into the URL bar, an automatic download of an installation setup started that was highly suspicious. The goal of these setups is to trick users into installing promoted software which could potentially include adware, browser hijackers, fake anti-viruses and PUAs – in some cases even trojans, ransomware or other malware threats could be included in these bundles.

In our research experience we have come across pages similar to itspeedg.com which were promoting a browser hijacker called App and fake extensions such as "Chrome", "Google Translate " and "Google Docs". Moreover, itspeedg.com was also requesting the visitors to allow it to display browser notifications which usually promote online scams and other dangerous software.

How Do Misleading Sites Use Tricks to Push Ads and Potentially Unwanted Programs?

Misleading sites often use tricks to push ads and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) to unsuspecting users. These rogue websites typically utilize deceptive tactics such as redirects, pop-ups, and browser notifications to draw in users.

Once a user visits a rogue website, they may be automatically presented with an ad or download link that appears to be legitimate. The download link is usually accompanied by a message that states “Your download link is ready…If the link is not clickable, copy and paste it into the address bar”. In reality, this download link leads to a malicious installer file that contains PUPs or malware.

Rogue websites may also request that the visitor allows them to display browser notifications (ads). These advertisements can promote online scams, adult content, and other dangerous software.

To avoid these deceptive websites, users should always pay close attention when downloading files from the internet and be cautious of any suspicious messages or ads they encounter while browsing online.
