The 'Deposited Into Your Bitcoin Portfolio' Email Scam Harvests Passwords
A new scam is distributed online, called the "Deposited Into Your Bitcoin Portfolio" scam.
The malicious emails spreading the scam contain the following text:
Hello,
As requested we have deposited of about $85.7777 into your Bitcoin portfolio at
hxxps:// horizencoin. net
Customer ID : -
password: -
Thanks

The victims are expected to log into the misleading site in the link using the ID and password provided. Once they do log in, victims are shown the following text:
Your account balance is currently 85.7777 BTC (€1,689,927.91) . For your security, you are now required to protect your account by choosing a more secure password and enabling OTP.
You can no longer skip this requirement as the maximum number of skips have been reached.
It's painfully obvious that the whole thing is a scam at this point. The next step of the scam is to ask the victim for a "new password". This is a simple trick to harvest passwords from victims, hoping the same password will be shared between many of their online accounts.
