Sandgerl.com Attempts to Scare Visitors with Fake Warnings
Sandgerl dot com is a malicious website that will display fake warning messages to visitors. The site seems to be targeting mobile users and will display a window, skinned to appear like a system notification from your phone, claiming you have important system notifications.
Under the pop-up message, there will be a chunk of scary text, claiming unknown "hackers" have "hacked" your phone and are now spying on you. This is a very simple social engineering trick that attempts to scare users into submission and into following malicious links.
The scary message is followed by several steps that claim to help with restoring your phone in safe working order. Of course, this is all a scam. Following the link below the supposedly helpful steps will only ask for personal information and can really lead to the compromise of your device's privacy.
The purpose of the scary hacker warnings is to simply get visitors to try to "fix" their phone in a hurry, revealing personal information without thinking and giving this information away to the malicious party operating the website.
When you see similar pages online, claiming that your phone or computer has been infected or hacked, the best thing you can do is to simply close the browser and never interact with any elements on the misleading page.
