Remove Xcbg Ransomware
Xcbg Ransomware is a new, updated variation of the STOP/Djvu family of file-encryption Trojans. While its encryption algorithm hasn't experienced any changes, it is still a major threat, which is impossible to decipher via free utilities. The Xcbg Ransomware payload often reaches users because of fake downloads, deceptive ads, or other misleading content. The goal of the Xcbg Ransomware is to lock as many of the victim's files as it can, and then extort them for money. The message of the extortionists is delivered through a ransom note dubbed '_readme.txt.'
The latter file explains the attack to the victim, and then prompts them to purchase a decryptor. The criminals set the price to $490, and they also offer test decryption for 1-2 small files. While we advise you to accept the free decryption offer, you should not consider paying the full ransom amount. The criminals behind the Xcbg Ransomware attack could easily take the money without giving you anything in return.
Since free decryptors do not work for the Xcbg Ransomware, we would advise you to explore alternative data recovery options. Currently, the only guaranteed way to undo the damage is to restore the files from a backup. Before you try to recover the files damaged by the Xcbg Ransomware, you should run an antivirus tool to ensure that all of the malicious files related to the attack are removed safely.
