Remove TRUST Ransomware

File-encryption Trojans continue to be one of the most dangerous types of malware you can encounter online. They are used by thousands of sinister cybercriminals, who exploit various strategies and methods to deliver malicious files to you. The TRUST Ransomware, for example, is often spread through phishing emails containing an attachment. However, some users may also encounter it when interacting with pirated content, or if they happen to download a bogus software installer from a legitimate-looking site. One small mistake may end up costing you a lot, because the TRUST Ransomware's attack will leave the majority of your files in an encrypted state.

The file-locking mechanism that this threat uses is identical to the one found in the VoidCrypt family of ransomware. Unfortunately, this is bad news – VoidCrypt variants like the Bom Ransomware are not decryptable. It is safe to assume that the TRUST Ransomware is not either.

Files that this ransomware locks will be identifiable because of the unique extension added to their original name '[getthekey@tutanota.com][<VICTIM ID>].TRUST.' Another change that this ransomware brings is to create the file 'Decrypt-me.txt' on the desktop. The latter document contains information about the attack, the contact details of the attackers, and their demands. Unsurprisingly, the plan of the hackers is to extort the victim for money by offering to give them a decryptor in return. The amount is not specified and, instead, the victim is told to message getthekey@tutanota.com or gthekey@aol.com for details.

TRUST Ransomware Ransom Note

Do not consider the offer of the criminals. Trusting them is a terrible choice – it would be very easy for them to scam you if you decide to pay. Many ransomware victims have tried co-operating with their attackers, only to end up losing both their money, and their files. Victims of the TRUST Ransomware should run an anti-malware scanner to eliminate the threat. After this, it is best to experiment with popular data recovery tools
