Remove Bom Ransomware

Ransomware attacks can have devastating consequences, especially if they happen to users who do not maintain backup copies of their data. The Bom Ransomware is incredibly dangerous because there is no way to recover from its attack via free tools. This threat is a part of the VoidCrypt family of ransomware. Unfortunately, none of these variants are decryptable – the Bom Ransomware is not an exception. The malware will encrypt the contents of numerous files, and then add the extension '.bom' to their names. Its primary targets are documents, media, archives, and other files that it deems to be important.

To avoid causing too much damage to the systems they compromise, the Bom Ransomware's creators prevent their threat from damaging specific files and folders. For example, it will skip EXE and DLL files, as well as folders like Windows, Win64, and Program Files. However, data in every other folder will be damaged

After Bom Ransomware's attack is done, it drops the text file Scratch.txt, which contains a message from the perpetrators. The same ransom note is being used by other VoidCrypt variants like the Baxter Ransomware and Douarix Ransomware. According to the file, victims need to find the file 'prvkey3.txt.key' and send it to the attackers at the email tormented.soul@tuta.io. Of course, this is just a portion of their demands – they also want to receive a Bitcoin payment for the full decryption service they claim to provide.

Bom Ransomware Ransom Note

Trusting Bom Ransomware's authors is a terrible idea. Paying them through Bitcoin means that the transaction will be irreversible – even if they decide to scam you, you will not be able to get your money back. You should never accept the offers of ransomware operators. Instead, victims of the Bom Ransomware should run an anti-malware scanner to eliminate the threat. After this, they can experiment with alternative data recovery tools.
