Remove Pyphyfe Ransomware
The Pyphyfe Ransomware is a file-locker belonging to the Snatch Ransomware family. This project used to be more active at the beginning of 2021 but, thankfully, its activity has been dying down of recent months. Regardless of this, new variants like the Pyphyfe Ransomware are still incredibly dangerous. If they penetrate a system's security, they will quickly encrypt a large portion of the victim's data. All files it locks are tagged with the suffix '.pyphyfe' to make them recognizable. Keep in mind that this minor change has nothing to do with the file's encrypted contents – undoing the name change will not make the files usable again.
Of course, the criminals behind the Pyphyfe Ransomware project demand to be paid in exchange for their assistance. They provide victims with the ransom note 'HOW TO RESTORE YOUR FILES.TXT' which explains the situation.
According to the document, victims should get in touch with JohnDealinger@seznam.cz and JohnasassistantIT@seznam.cz for more information. The criminals claim to be offering a decryption tool to anyone who pays the unspecified the ransom fee. The criminals also add that they will only accept money through Bitcoin – a common requirement to protect their anonymity.
How is the Pyphyfe Ransomware Spread?
Victims of ransomware attacks often end up in this situation because of interacting with shady downloads. Remember to only visit trustworthy pages, especially if you plan to download anything off of them. Also, make sure to avoid pirated games and software – this type of content is often laced with malware like this one.
Paying any money is out of the question – it is likely that the ransomware developers will scam you out of your money. Our advice is to run an antivirus scanner to dispose of the malware. After this, start restoring from a backup, or use other data recovery options.
