Jkwerlo Ransomware Holds Your Files Hostage

Jkwerlo is categorized as ransomware, functioning with the intent to encrypt data and demand payment for decryption. When a Jkwerlo sample was executed, it initiated the encryption process on files.

Unlike many ransomware programs that typically modify file titles by adding an extension, Jkwerlo did not alter filenames. Upon completing the encryption process, this ransomware generated a ransom message named "IMPORTANT_README.txt."

The ransom note from Jkwerlo informs the victim that the files have been encrypted and advises against attempting manual decryption, as it may result in irreversible damage to the data. File recovery relies on a decryption key possessed by the attackers, obtainable only through the payment of a ransom. Once the funds are transferred, the cybercriminals assure the victim that they will receive the decryption tools and instructions within 24 hours.

The ransomware has variants that produce ransom notes in English, Spanish and French.

When the payment it's done you will receive the decrypter and the instructions to recover the files within 24 hours.
