Findnotefile Ransomware is a malicious application that wants to encrypt the data on your hard drive and then offer to return it to you in exchange for money. The criminals behind the Findnotefile Ransomware have managed to implement a very reliable file-locking mechanism and, unfortunately, victims of the will not have access to a free decryption tool. However, this does not mean that they should consider co-operating with the criminals – sending them money is a terrible idea. Not only will the payments be used to develop other dangerous malware, but there is also a significant chance that they will take your money without providing you with a decryptor.

Never trust ransomware creators who promise to help you in exchange for money. Findnotefile Ransomware's creators ask to be paid via Bitcoin, which would make the transaction impossible to reverse or track. Victims of this ransomware attack will see the '.findnotefile' suffix added to the names of their files. They will also discover the ransom note 'HOW_TO_RECOVER_MY_FILES.txt' that the threat drops after it is finished encrypting the victim's data.

The criminals provide two email addresses, which can be used to contact them – emiliantor@mailfence.com and emilianazizi@tutanota.com. They offer no proof that their decryption tool exists or works. They also claim to have stolen confidential data before it was encrypted, and they will publish it on the Internet if the victim does not pay within the next 12 days.

Unfortunately, having your data published online is a serious problem, but there's no guarantee that you will prevent this by paying the criminals. Our advice to victims of the Findnotefile Ransomware is to run a suitable anti-malware scanner and then try out alternative data recovery tools. Currently, the only way to reliably recover from ransomware attacks is to restore the damaged data from a backup.
