Remove Bpqd Ransomware

A new variant of the STOP/Djvu Ransomware is looking to infect systems worldwide. The threat, dubbed Bpqd Ransomware, is not any different from previous versions of the infamous file-encryption Trojan. Once it infects a system, it needs just a few minutes to complete a devastating file-encryption attack. The attack aims to encrypt the contents of files that victims are likely to find important – images, documents, archives, videos, and more. Once a file is successfully locked, the Bpqd Ransomware will add the '.bpqd' extension to the end of its original name.

Of course, ransomware creators are after the money of their victims. This case is not any different. When the Bpqd Ransomware attack is complete, it will drop a ransom note titled '_readme.txt.' Inside this document, victims find instructions on how to proceed to recover their data. Unfortunately, ransomware creators do not offer these services for free. In Bpqd Ransomware's case, the victim is told to pay a ransom fee of $490. In addition to this, they are threatened that the ransom amount will double if they do not send the money soon.

You should know that paying ransoms to cybercriminals is never a good idea. There is no guarantee that you will get anything in return – they could easily scam you. Instead of trusting Bpqd Ransomware's operators, you should use an up-to-date security tool to terminate the threat immediately. Once you dispose of the malware, explore alternative data recovery tools or, even better, restore your files from a backup.
