How to Uninstall BlueStacks

BlueStacks is the name of an app player and an emulator of sorts. It allows PC and Mac users to run games and applications originally designed for Android.

BlueStacks is probably most widely used for gaming, as even its home page makes a very big deal of all the popular Android games it allows you to play on your computer, even including mouse and keyboard support which often give players a big competitive edge over opponents a lot of the time.

To uninstall BlueStacks on a Windows PC, do the following:

  1. Open your start menu and click the gear-shaped Settings icon.
  2. In the settings window, click on Apps.
  3. In the list of installed applications, find BlueStacks and click on its entry, then click the Uninstall button.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions until the uninstall process is complete.
  5. Open your start menu and paste the following string while the menu is focused and open: %temp%
  6. In the C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp folder that should open up, delete all folders you see in it.
  7. Download and run the official BSTCleaner application from the BlueStacks support page, then wait for it to finish removing any leftover files.

To uninstall BlueStacks on a Mac, do the following:

  1. Close BlueStacks.
  2. Click the Applications button on the system dock or go there through Finder.
  3. Find the BlueStacks icon, then drag and drop it onto your Trash.
  4. Empty your Trash to complete uninstallation.

Following these steps should see your BlueStacks installation safely and completely uninstalled from your computer.
