Beware! 'Google - Qatar World Cup Lottery' Scam Fishes for Naive Victims
A new scam is being distributed online, trying to piggyback on the ongoing football world cup in Qatar.
The scam uses an old, tested lure. Potential victims receive a malicious email that claims the victim won no less than 5.7 million British pounds from an imaginary, fake "lottery" held at the Qatar world cup.
Of course, in order to get the fake money, the victims are expected to provide a healthy dose of information about themselves. The email asks for the victim's name, country of residence, telephone number and age.
