"Congratulations You just received TetherUSDT" Scam
There is yet another scam website being spread around using malicious links displayed in rogue ads online. The new setup is called the "Congratulations You just received TetherUSDT" scam.
The scam is focused around crypto - one of the hottest online topics of today. There is a domain with a small typo in its name, attempting to impersonate the legitimate Blockchain dot com page. The scam has been spotted on the domain "blockchaicom.netlify.app", with the 'n' letter of the word 'blockchain' dropped. A quick glance just at the highly suspect URL should be enough to make most people aware of the scammy nature of the page.
The page displayed by the scam promises a gift of 5300 Tether USDT cryptocurrency. In short, the site promises a free gift of cryptocurrency that is worth roughly 5300 regular US dollars. This should be a massive second red flag for anyone who still has their wits about them, following the suspicious URL.
Of course, there is no free lunch to be had here and the whole page and free crypto setup is a scam, designed to steal victim wallets and login credentials.
Hopefully, if you are dealing in crypto at all, you were able to spot the issues with the scam page from a mile away. In any case, the best thing you can do if you run into this scam or similar ones like it, preying on clueless but hopeful crypto enthusiasts, is to simply close your browser.
