'Your Transfer Expires in Two Days' Email Scam
A new spam email campaign is aiming to promote phishing scams and malware. It appears that the victims are users who have interacted with the WeTransfer platform. They may find in their inbox a message saying that there are pending files to receive via WeTransfer. The 'Your Transfer Expires in Two Days' email scam is branded with the WeTransfer logo, and it informs users that they must review the documents in the link urgently.
The button that says 'Click to Get Files' does not take you to the WeTransfer website. Instead, it immediately prompts users to download an archive that is supposed to contain the data. The catch is that the archive is meant to deploy dangerous malware such as an infostealer, ransomware, or a Trojan.
The scope of the 'Your Transfer Expires in Two Days' email scam campaign is not clear yet. However, it is safe to assume that criminals are targeting users all over the world. To make sure that you are safe, we advise you to be careful when interacting with random, incoming emails. Always be wary of email senders that immediately ask you to download and review a file – always scan files with a good anti-virus tool before attempting to open them.
