Don't Fall for the 'Win A New iPhone 13' Scam
Scams have been around for thousands of years. One of the latest instances of a scam that uses the most common bait in scams is called the "Win a new iPhone 13" scam.
The pages hosting the scam include an image of an iPhone and the fake promise that the visitor can "win a new iPhone 13". Visitors are told they need to enter a "trial" for just $3 and be part of a draw to win the phone. Of course, this is all a simple but effective setup to scam people.
To enter the so-called "trial", visitors are expected to provide an extensive list of personally identifiable information, including their full name, their address and zip code, as well as their state and city of residence and email address.
None of this information will be used for a legitimate prize draw, it is all a setup to steal user information. Entering this information inside the fields will only funnel it into the hands of the party operating the "Win a new iPhone 13" scam.
Be wary when you are browsing online and be careful when some random page offers you something that looks a little too good to be true. There is no free lunch in life, especially not when you are online and there are hundreds of malicious actors out there looking to defraud you and steal your information.
