'MailEx' Scam

Scammers have developed a new scam that poses as an online shopping survey. But it’s not what it first appears to be. It's designed to trick you into providing your payment details and bank account information, and can even ask you to send money back to the scammers! Let us explain how this scam works, and how you can protect yourself from falling victim. It is called 'MailEx' Scam and it is similar to the 'Romanian Post' Scam. But instead of delivering malware, it exposes users to fake surveys, which ask for all sorts of private information.

The 'MailEx' Scam may seem very attractive at first, because it shows up out of nowhere, and it tells the user that they can get up to $125 worth of coupons or vouchers if they fill out the survey. Users who choose to get involved will first come across simple questions – such as basic info about the MailEx services they use, or online shopping experiences. However, with each step the scammers will start asking for more and more until, ultimately, they request the victim to confirm their identity by providing personal details, or even by supply bank and credit card information. Such scams may sometimes ask the victim to send some money as a 'confirmation' that they are a real person. Needless to say, you should never agree to such conditions.

If you see the 'MailEx' Scam in your email inbox or while browsing the Web, you should ignore it. MailEx does not have an ongoing campaign that gives away money, so any websites or messages that claim to do so are fake.
