'We Receive Another Bank Information' Email Scam Spreads Malware
A new email scam is being used to spread dangerous malware like the NanoCore RAT. The good news is that the scammers behind this particular campaign do not seem to have put a lot of effort in their attempt. The message is riddled with grammatical errors and typos that a reputable financial institution would never make. The 'We Receive Another Bank Information' Email Scam tells victims that there is an issue with the bank account they submitted, and some funds may not be transferred. It then urges them to download and review a document, which will show them the error. In reality, the document is a macro-laced file, which will execute dangerous malware like the NanoCore RAT.
Remember to always be careful when interacting with random, unexpected email attachments. If you are unable to verify that their sender is legitimate, you should look for alternative ways to do that. For example, if it's an unexpected message from your bank, then we suggest contacting your bank directly instead of trusting the email. Keep in mind that the 'We Receive Another Bank Information' Email Scam is just one of many cons of this sort. In addition to spreading malware, these fake emails may also end up taking you to phishing sites that steal login information for emails, bank accounts, and more.
