Scanprotectiontoday.com Tries to Scare with Fake Warnings
Scanprotectiontoday dot com is one of the many similar "fake virus warning" misleading websites.
This type of misleading page throws a lot of scary but very fake warnings at the visitor. Fake virus warning sites also commonly use branding and imagery of legitimate antivirus software providers and applications to at least lend an air of legitimacy to their fake warnings. None of those misleading sites are associated with the legitimate developers and applications, of course.
Scanprotectiontoday dot com will throw warnings telling visitors they have half a dozen very dangerous viruses on their system. This is a simple trick to scare users enough so they click the "allow notifications" button that the page brings up.
This allows the misleading site to push ads directly in your browser, through push notification functionality. Those ads may be sourced from rogue ad networks, as is common practice with misleading and untrustworthy websites.
This means those ads may link to questionable online content, scams, phishing pages and other misleading pages.
Remember that no website can scan your system or somehow obtain information on its infection or security status and keep in mind that all similar "viruses found" warnings are always fake.
