Dealing with the xSpace Ransomware Attack

xSpace is the name of a new and updated variant of the VoidCrypt Ransomware. Unfortunately, the threat is still as dangerous as before, and there is nothing that its victims can do in order to ensure the recovery of their data. Currently, victims of the xSpace Ransomware should abstain from agreeing to co-operate with the attackers. Remember that paying a fee to ransomware operators is not a guarantee that they will help – you might end up getting scammed.

Victims of the xSpace Ransomware should might end up interacting with the malicious file because of fake downloads, phishing emails, pirated content, or other suspicious files. We advise everyone to stick to browsing reputable sites, and to avoid file downloads from random pages. In addition to this, it is recommended to use a reputable anti-malware service at all times – this is the best way to prevent ransomware attacks.

If the xSpace Ransomware is a success, the malware will encrypt the contents of all sorts of important files, preventing anyone from viewing their contents. These files will also have their names changed to use the extension '.(MJ-<VICTIM ID>)(HelpMe@mailfence.com).xSpace.' Last but not least, the threat drops the 'Decryption-Guide.hta' ransom note.

The ransom note tells victims to pay a ransom fee via Bitcoin, and advises them to stay away from alternative decryption tools. Allegedly, trying to recover their files on their own could end up damaging them irreversibly. We assure you that this is a bluff, because xSpace Ransomware's operators want to convince you to pay. Paying them is a bad idea because they could easily scam you out of your money. Instead, you should run an antivirus tool to eliminate the malware, and then explore other data recovery options.
