Remove Vtua Ransomware
Vtua Ransomware is a STOP/Djvu variant capable of encrypting a large portion of your files. Needless to say, it is in your best interest to be familiar with this threat, and learn how to protect your data. Thankfully, staying safe from the Vtua Ransomware attack is not that difficult. All it takes is an up-to-date antivirus software suite, and some knowledge on how to avoid suspicious and potentially harmful files or websites.
The Vtua Ransomware usually arrives to computers through spearphishing emails carrying an attachment, or thanks to fake downloads and pirated content. Once a user's system is infected, the malware will quickly go through their partitions and encrypting a large portion of the files. The primary file types that this attack targets are those that are more likely to contain important data. These include documents, images, archives, other media, backups, etc.
All files that the Vtua Ransomware locks will have the '.vtua' suffix at the end of their original name. Victims will also discover the '_readme.txt' file on their desktop. This document carries a message from the criminals:
- The ransom fee is $490 for the first 72 hours. It doubles after this.
- Victims can message for assistance by contacting manager@mailtemp.ch or supporthelp@airmail.cc.
- The criminals offer to unlock one file for free.
- All payments must be made via Bitcoin.
We advise you not to trust the criminals. They may not provide you with anything even if you meet their demands. In fact, many ransomware victims end up empty-handed after they pay up through Bitcoin. Instead of trying to buy anything off of anonymous cybercriminals, you should use an antivirus scanner to remove the Vtua Ransomware.
Once the file-locker is gone, you should proceed to run popular data recovery software and tools. They could help you recover at least some of your data back to its original condition.
