Tasa Ransomware is a Djvu Family Clone

ransomware

In case you find yourself unable to access your files, images, or documents due to the ".tasa" extension, your computer has fallen victim to the STOP/DJVU ransomware. This malicious software encrypts personal documents stored on the victim's computer, adding the ".tasa" extension to them. Subsequently, a message surfaces, proposing data decryption in exchange for a Bitcoin payment. These instructions are presented through a file named "_readme.txt," thoughtfully positioned on the victim's desktop.

TASA operates as a ransomware infection that encrypts files, holding data such as documents, images, and videos, hostage by altering their extensions to ".tasa." Its ultimate aim is to coerce victims into paying a ransom, demanded in Bitcoin cryptocurrency, in order to regain access to their data.

Upon initial infection with the TASA ransomware, the system undergoes a scan for files like images, videos, and crucial productivity documents such as .doc, .docx, .xls, .pdf. Once identified, these files fall prey to encryption by the ransomware, which changes their extensions to ".tasa," rendering them inaccessible.

After successfully encrypting the files, the TASA ransomware displays the "readme.txt" file, which contains both the ransom note and directions on how to reach the ransomware creators. Victims are urged to establish contact with these malicious developers via the email addresses support@fishmail.top and datarestorehelp@airmail.cc. The objective is to prompt victims to engage with the cybercriminals, who demand a ransom payment in exchange for the possibility of data recovery.
