Remove Razer Ransomware

ransomware

Razer Ransomware is a slightly updated version of the Makop Ransomware family. Unfortunately, variants of this malware are incompatible with free decryptors. Their victims will face a major challenge when it comes to recovering their data, and they might often be unable to do it unless they have access to a recent backup.

Threats like the Razer Ransomware are often spread via fake downloads or deceptive advertisements. Their creators might also lace software activators and game cracks with the malware, and then deliver it to victims through pirated content and torrent trackers. Needless to say, interacting with pirated software and media is something that you should avoid, because it could easily expose you to malware and dangerous scams.

The Razer Ransomware Attack

When this file-locker infiltrates a system, it will begin the attack immediately. The goal of the threat is to prevent victims from accessing files that are likely to be important – documents, databases, spreadsheets, presentations, images, and more. After it locks a file, this malware will mark its name with the unique suffix – '.[<VICTIM ID>].[razer1115@goat.si].razer.' it also creates a ransom note called 'readme-warning.txt' – this file is usually available on the victim's desktop.

The criminals behind the Razer Ransomware demand a ransom payment, and promise to provide all paying victims with a decryption tool/service. However, they offer no proof that they will do this. If you pay them, you might end up scammed. The only piece of information that the criminals provide are their email addresses - azer1115@goat.si, pecunia0318@tutanota.com and pecunia0318@goat.si. If the Razer Ransomware has taken over your files, use an antivirus scanner to terminate it. Then, start restoring your files from a backup if you have access to one. If this is not an option, then explore alternative data recovery options.
