QuicklookPI Mac Adware
QuicklookPI is the name of a Mac application that is broadly classified as a potentially unwanted app and more specifically - as adware or ad-supported software.
Adware of this type will usually arrive on your system through bundle installers that may contain one legitimate app, packaged with one or several potentially unwanted applications. This practice is known as "bundling" and is one of the most common ways of distributing adware and potentially unwanted apps as a whole.
Adware such as QuicklookPI is intended to display ads on your system, usually by embedding them inside pages you browse online or displaying them as pop-ups. The big issue here is that adware apps often source their ads from rogue advertising networks.
This means the ads may link to questionable online content, other potentially unwanted application installers, misleading websites and scam or phishing pages.
As a general rule of thumb, you never want to keep adware of any kind on your computer because at best, it will slow down your browser and connection and at worst it will expose you to potentially harmful ads while you are using the Internet.
If you discover QuicklookPI among your Mac's applications, it is advisable that you remove it immediately, to limit any further exposure to potentially harmful ads while you browse.
