How to Stop PlatformFormat Mac Adware
PlatformFormat is the name of one of the hundreds of clone apps, all belonging to the family of ad-supported applications known as AdLoad.
Adware or ad-supported applications function by delivering advertising to your system, usually in the form of pop-ups in your browser of choice. PlatformFormat does just that as well. It has the same icon that every other AdLoad clone uses - a grey circle with a plain white looking glass icon inside it. The names of those AdLoad apps are generated at random, by picking two words and splicing them together.
The issue with PlatformFormat, or any other adware app for that matter, is that adware often works in conjunction with rogue advertising networks. This means that the ads delivered by the adware app and sourced through the rogue ad network may lead to questionable content, misleading websites, potentially unwanted program installers and untrustworthy pages.
This makes the presence of any adware app on your Mac undesirable. Thankfully, the solution is relatively easy - all you need to do is drag and drop the adware application's icon onto your Trash, then empty the Trash and this should take care of the issue, as Mac adware rarely has persistence mechanisms.
