AssistSample Mac Adware
AssistSample is the name assigned to yet another clone of the AdLoad adware. AdLoad is a family of adware clone apps that affect Macs.
AssistSample has a generic name, generated by stringing two random words together, just like every other AdLoad variant. AssistSample also uses a very generic icon, helping it blend in with your other apps. Like all other adware, it works by delivering ads inside your browser, making money for the adware's maker in the process.
The big issue with this sort of behavior is that AssistSample, like every other ad-supported application, can display ads that are not simply annoying but can be potentially harmful too.
Adware applications often work in conjunction with rogue advertising networks and source their ads through them. This means that those ads may link to potentially unwanted program installers, questionable online content, untrustworthy pages and misleading websites.
Given this sort of behavior is typical for AssistSample and other adware apps, it should be clear why you don't want any of them lying around your system. Removal is as simple as dragging and dropping the app's icon on your Trash and then emptying the Trash.
