How to Stop Pcroomskill.com Ads

alerts pop-ups

Our researchers have identified a rogue website, pcroomskill.com, which is practically identical to the downloaderfiles.cloud page. This site is designed to promote potentially dangerous software and spam browser notifications, as well as redirecting visitors to other suspicious websites. It is likely that users access these pages through redirects caused by sites using rogue advertising networks.

The behavior of these rogue webpages can vary depending on the visitor's IP address or geolocation. When we inspected pcroomskill.com, it stated that a download link was ready and instructed visitors to copy and paste the link into their URL bar if they could not access it by clicking. Such deceptive tactics are often used to endorse installers bundled with adware and/or browser hijackers, but they can also promote various PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications). In rare cases, the installers even spread trojans and other malicious malware.

Furthermore, pcroomskill.com requested visitors to allow its browser notification delivery service in order to run intrusive advertisement campaigns which may include online scams, untrustworthy/harmful software or even malware. It is important for users to be aware of such threats when browsing the internet in order to protect their system from them.

How do misleading websites use push notifications to spam you with ads?

Misleading websites use push notifications to spam users with ads by sending them notifications that appear to be from legitimate sources. These notifications often contain links to the website, which can lead users to click on them and be taken to a page filled with ads or other content that is not related to what they were expecting. The notifications may also contain malicious code that can infect the user's device or steal their personal information. To avoid being spammed with these types of notifications, users should be wary of any suspicious-looking notifications and only click on links from trusted sources.
