Remove Patext
Patext is an intrusive Mac application, which is usually installed without the user's approval or knowledge. This may often happen when users fall for misleading ads or installation instructions, and they end up installing more than they bargained for. But what happens when Patext is installed? Thankfully, it will not damage your Mac or threaten your privacy and security. It may, however, cause unwanted changes to your Web browser's behavior and performance. This software is identified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP,) and it may set a random website as your browser's default search aggregator and new tab page.
The change mentioned above is likely to diminish your Web browsing experience by forcing you to use a low-quality website, which is not trustworthy. The search engine that Patext promotes may end up showing sponsored results, or redirecting you to dodgy pages. Needless to say, you should not use such websites regularly, and any software that tries to bring them to your attention should be removed.
Even if you notice Patext on your Mac, you will not be able to remove it manually – its uninstaller will not fully remove all of Patext's files. The recommended course of action when it comes to dealing with Mac PUPs like this one is to run a suitable security tool.
