Remove OperativeToolView
OperativeToolView is a misleading application for Macs. Its name was probably picked to make it sound like an important tool but, in reality, it serves no valuable purpose. In fact, users who have it on their Mac will not notice any positive changes. They may, however, notice weird behavior coming from their Web browser. OperativeToolView is known to impact the settings of popular Web browser, forcing them to redirect users to specific sites.
Antivirus software for Mac reports OperativeToolView as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP,) but it also has browser hijacking capabilities. Users may often end up installing it unknowingly. Usually, this happens when interacting with a dubious software bundle or if you fall for a fake download or update. Needless to say, the creators of OperativeToolView use some shady tricks to help their software reach as many systems as possible.
OperativeToolView PUP Worsens Web Browsing Sessions
While OperativeToolView's changes are not malicious, they will certainly diminish your Web browsing experience. Users often experience its redirects when trying to load a new tab or to search the Web. This PUP may attempt to promote dubious search engines, which often deliver unreliable results. On top of this, they might also show extra ads and pop-ups or other marketing content. Last but not least, it is not uncommon for shady search engines to also trigger unwanted redirects to other sites.
If you are experiencing any of the intrusive changes above, then you might have OperativeToolView or another PUP on your Mac. In this situation, we do not advise you to try and deal with the issue manually. Instead, run an up-to-date anti-malware scanner for Macs in order to identify and eliminate the intruder. Typically, its removal should automatically revert your browser settings back to their normal values. If this does not happen, though, you may need to fix the configuration manually.
