Remove OfferCore
OfferCore is a detection name, which anti-malware software uses to inform users that they have downloaded a software bundle on their computer. Typically, there is nothing dangerous about such software, but ignoring these warnings may end up allowing the installation of annoying apps. For example, low-quality software bundles are often used to install Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs,) browser hijackers, or adware. These applications are not harmful, but they may introduce annoying changes to your system's settings and behavior.
Some of the symptoms you may encounter if you have installed a low-quality app through a software bundle are:
- Random redirects to unknown websites.
- Seeing extra ads while browsing the Web.
- Seen unknown antivirus reports and recommendations, which prompt you to buy a security tool you have never heard of.
- Your browser uses an unknown new tab page or search service.
How are the OfferCore software bundles spread online?
Typically, they are not something you will encounter if you use legitimate free applications, which have an excellent reputation. However, you are likely to come across software bundles if you try downloading obscure file converters, download managers, and similar utilities. OfferCore bundles may introduce PUPs like FilterIdea.
In general, it is best to avoid installers that are detected as OfferCore by your anti-malware service. While they might not be dangerous, this means that they are engaging in shady practices – there is no way to know where they will draw the line. We advise you to delete the installer and look for an alternative piece of software that does not rely on low-quality software bundling strategies.
