Remove Miia Ransomware

Miia Ransomware is a slightly modified version of the dangerous STOP/Djvu family of file-lockers. Sadly, this also means that this malware is not compatible with free decryptors. If it damages your data, you will have a hard time restoring it – the attackers hold the decryption key necessary to complete the task. Of course, the creators of the Miia Ransomware are offering to sell this piece of information. Allegedly, they ask for a ransom payment of $490, but this price is only valid for 72 hours. If users do not pay on time, they will need to part with $980 for the decryptor. The criminals also ask for all payments to be done via Bitcoin, a common measure to protect their identities.

If the Miia Ransomware takes over your system, you will notice several changes. Many of your files will be inaccessible because of their encrypted contents. You will be able to distinguish them by the '.miia' extension that this threat adds to locked files. In addition to this, victims of the Miia Ransomware will discover the '_readme.txt' document on the desktop. It contains a message from the criminals.

Miia Ransomware Ransom Note

What do the Miia Ransomware Attackers Want?

As mentioned above, their sole goal is getting money from victims. They promise to provide a test decryption for 1-2 files, and urge victims to send these files to manager@mailtemp.ch or helprestoremanager@airmail.cc. You should certainly take advantage of this offer, as it might enable  you to get at least 1-2 files back. We advise you not to send any money to the perpetrators of the attack. There is no guarantee that they will stay true to their word and help you out. In fact, it is much more likely that they will scam you by ignoring your pleas for help, or by asking for more money after the first transaction. The best way to proceed is to eliminate the Miia Ransomware by running an up-to-date anti-malware tool. Then, try out alternative data recovery options.
