How to Avoid Hedgehag.com Ad Pop-Ups

popup notifications adware

Hedgehag dot com is a misleading website that will dangle a fake video player in front of visitors in the hopes of luring them to accept ads in their browser through it.

Landing on Hedgehag dot com, you will see a black page with what seems to be a web video player on it. However, no video would be playing on it and the page will cause your browser's "allow notification" dialog box to come up. The page will tell you that you need to "press allow to watch the video".

Remember that this sort of misleading page has no meaningful content on it and pressing allow is always a cheap trick to push ads in your browser, through push notification functionality that you were tricked into accepting.

Never interact with any elements, buttons or links on websites that tell you you need to click "allow" anywhere on them to "continue", "prove you are not a robot" or to "watch the video". All those pages are misleading and only seek to push potentially harmful ads inside your browser, generating money for the misleading website owner in the process and exposing you to ads that may link to scam and phishing pages and questionable content.
