Freshyearmarts.shop Promises Fake Rewards to Push Ads

popup notifications adware

Freshyearmarts dot shop is a misleading website that will dangle fake but tempting rewards in front of its visitors, in the hopes they will allow push notifications from the page.

When you land on Freshyearmarts dot shop, given you are in the right geolocation and are targeted by the site's makers, you can see a misleading text message, telling you that you were chosen as one of the 100 visitors who can win an expensive mobile device, made either by Apple or Samsung. To lend an air of credibility to the whole sham set up, the page also abuses the logo of T-Mobile, one of Europe's largest mobile operators.

Of course, like all similar pages that offer you expensive gifts because they claim you are the one lucky visitor, this is all a lie. There is no free lunch to be had here.

The setup with the free mobile devices used is only intended to get the visitor to click "allow" in the "Allow notifications" prompt that comes up with the user loads the page. Allowing notifications will only grant Freshyearmarts dot shop to push ads and pop-ups to your browser. A lot of those ads can be sourced from rogue ad networks and redirect to other misleading sites or malicious pages.

Remember that there is no free lunch, especially when a random no-name website is offering it, and simply close your browser immediately when you run into similar pages that are set up only to mislead visitors and push ads into their browsers.
