FATP ransomware is a newly discovered ransomware variant that expands the massive Djvu ransomware clone family.

FATP encrypts files, including media files, archives, documents and database files. Executables that are not part of Windows are encrypted as well.

Encrypted files receive the ".fatp" extension, which is also used as the generic name assigned to the new Djvu clone. This process will change a file called "document.doc" into "document.doc.fatp" once the file gets encrypted.

The ransomware deposits its ransom demands inside a file named "_readme.txt". The ransom note shares the common template used by all Djvu clones and asks for $490 if the ransom is paid within three days. The full note goes as follows:
