Ggyu Ransomware is Yet Another Djvu Clone
A new ransomware was spotted by researchers, belonging to the huge family of existing Djvu ransomware clones. The new variant is called the Ggyu ransomware.
Ggyu will encrypt almost every file on a victim system, leaving essential OS files intact. Once encrypted, files scrambled by the ransomware receive the ".ggyu" extension. This means that a file originally named "document.txt" will transform into "document.txt.ggyu" once it has been encrypted. The ransomware will encrypt files with the most commonly used media, document, archive and database extensions.
The ransom note is dropped inside a plain text file called "_readme.txt" and the ransom demands have been copied from the usual Djvu clone template.
