Defender-pro-2022.xyz Pushes Ads Through Fake Virus Alerts

pop-up alert warning

Defender-pro-2022 dot xyz is a misleading website that will display fake virus warnings and attempt to scare the visitor into accepting ads delivered through push notifications.

The page is designed to look like it's showing the visitor a few interface boxes and windows of a legitimate antivirus app. Those boxes will always have some scary but entirely fake statement about the user's system. Whether this will be a warning about viruses found on your system, or about you having visited some "illegal" or "malicious" page, all those warnings have two things in common - they are intended to frighten and they are always fake.

Those pages, like so many other misleading sites, attempt to push ad spam delivered through push notifications. A confused and scared user is a lot more likely to click the "allow" button without thinking.

Remember you should never trust an online page that tells you you have X viruses on your computer. Every single one of those pages is some sort of scam, fake or fraud and interacting with it will only lead to trouble.
