Remove CRaccoon
CRaccoon is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that more and more Windows users have been encountering randomly. The issue is that they are not simply seeing ads or offers to install it – they find it on their list of installed apps despite having never heard of it before. Typically, finding random apps on your computer is a major red flag there is something shady going on. The good news is that CRaccoon is not dangerous, despite its rather surprising presence on your device.
A sneak peek at CRaccoon's interface reveals that this app is supposed to be a cleaner, which can help the user optimize Windows and free up disk space. However, it appears to offer a very limited set of features. Users only get the option to remove cookies, temporary files, and old downloads. Needless to say, these features are not special at all, and they might even be troublesome to use. This is because CRaccoon does not show the files it will delete – you may accidentally wipe out a download that you need.
How is CRaccoon Installed?
It is already clear that CRaccoon does not spread through traditional methods. While there is an official website and download page, it is unlikely that users download it from there. Instead, it is brought to their devices because of software bundles, fake installers/updaters, and other misleading content. CRaccoon will run automatically whenever Windows starts.
The clean-up features are not the only thing that CRaccoon does, however. It may also work in the background to force the Web browser to redirect users to 3rd-party sites. This behavior is very intrusive, and any app that exhibits it should be removed immediately. This one is not an exception.
If CRaccoon shows up on your machine, you should not give it a second chance. Proceed to remove it by running an up-to-date Windows security scanner.
