ConnectedProtocol Mac Adware
ConnectedProtocol is the unintentionally funny name of an ad-supported application for Mac.
ConnectedProtocol is part of the big family of AdLoad adware clones. You can encounter its icon in the Applications folder - a circle with a magnifying glass icon in it - just the same as the icon used by dozens of other AdLoad clones.
ConnectedProtocol has a single purpose - to deliver ads into your browser of choice, just like all adware. The real issue is that adware apps may partner up with rogue advertising networks. This means that the ads served up in your browser will likely be sourced using those rogue ad networks.
This type of rogue ad may link to untrustworthy or malicious pages, scam or phishing websites, potentially unwanted application installers or misleading websites.
This should make it plain why you don't want to have adware on your Mac, whether it is ConnectedProtocol or any other ad-supported application.
Removing Mac adware of this sort is usually pretty easy and boils down to dropping the adware's icon from your Applications folder onto your Trash.
