Remove BlackByte Ransomware
The BlackByte Ransomware is a well-crafted file-locker that, unfortunately, is not decryptable. Victims of this threat will be unable to use their important files. For example, it can encrypt documents, videos, archives, and many other files. After the BlackByte Ransomware encrypts a file successfully, it adds the '.blackbyte' suffix to its original name. After all this is done, it spawns a ransom note by automatically opening the file 'BlackByte_restoremyfiles.hta.' – the same file is also available on the desktop.
It is not a surprise that the authors of the BlackByte Ransomware want to receive a Bitcoin payment in exchange for a decryption tool. They assure the user that using 3rd-party data recovery tools is pointless, and they will only end up causing more damage to their files. Of course, this is a bluff that the criminals use to convince users to pay. The exact amount of money that BlackByte Ransomware's creators demand is not available, but it probably will be at least a few hundred dollars. They also demand to receive it via Bitcoin, an anonymous cryptocurrency.
The criminals provide victims with two ways to contact them. They can either use the email blakcbyte1@onionmail.org, or a TOR-based page. The latter contains payment information, but we would not advise you to use it. Paying money to ransomware creators is not a good idea, because it would be easy for them to scam you.
In the case of the BlackByte Ransomware attack, you should ignore the demands of the criminals. Instead of trusting them, install and run an up-to-date antivirus software suite. It will assist you with the removal of the dangerous malware. Once you do this, you should start restoring files from a backup, or you should try out other data recovery measures.
