Remove AMC Ransomware
The AMC Ransomware appears to be a piece of malware that was created as a joke. Unfortunately, it is a joke that can be very dangerous if it manages to infect your system. Despite the outrageous demands of its creators, it is still a fully-functional piece of malware. It can encrypt a wide range of file formats, rendering their contents unreadable. Once it locks a file, it will also append a new suffix to its name – usually a randomly generated string of characters. Last but not least, it drops the 'ransom_read_it.txt' ransom message.
Victims of the AMC Ransomware are told to pay a ransom fee of $900,000,000 for their files, so it is pretty clear that the creators of the threat are not planning to actually get any payments. They provide a TOR-based payment page to complete the task. We advise you not to visit it, since no one would obviously pay this amount.
Unfortunately the AMC Ransomware is not decryptable. Its victims will have a tough time getting their files back, and it is best to prevent such attacks from happening in the first place. The best way to automate your PC's defenses against file-locking malware is to use an up-to-date antivirus application. Of course, you should also consider alternative options such as maintaining up-to-date, offline backups of your files. This way, even if a threat like AMC Ransomware hits your device, you should be able to recover the majority of your files thanks to the backup.
