What is the ACEPY Ransomware Attack?
ACEPY Ransomware is a file-encryption Trojan, which could cause massive damage to your data if you do not have the means to stop its attack. Thankfully, it is very easy to make sure that ransomware attacks never manage to harm your files – just use an up-to-date anti-malware tool to keep yourself safe. Unfortunately, many users neglect their system's protection, and they are the ones that the ACEPY Ransomware is likely to go after. When this malware executes its attack, it will swiftly encrypt a large portion of files, focusing on commonly used file formats – documents, images, archives, etc.
After the ACEPY Ransomware damages files, it appends the '.acepy' suffix to their name. Then, it drops the 'ACEPY_README.txt' ransom note. The message, however, does not reveal much about the attack. It simply informs the user that their data is encrypted, and suggests that they message acepyransom@protonmail.com for assistance.
Although the ransom note does not mention anything about a ransom payment, it is very likely that the criminals behind the ACEPY Ransomware are expecting to receive a ransom payment from their victims. Unfortunately, fulfilling the demands of the criminals does not guarantee a positive outcome – they could still easily scam you out of your money. We would not advise you to trust the criminals. Instead, run an antivirus tool to dispose of the threat, and then explore alternative data recovery options.
