The idea is to scare the victim into thinking he has been charged 850 units of an unknown currency for an item he never bought. The scared victim is expected to call the phones provided in the email that have nothing to do with PayPal, just like the scam email itself.
The scam operators on the other end of the line could extract personal information from the victim under a fake "verification" process, or obtain banking details and abuse them later.
At least the scam has a number of glaring issues, from the awkward wording to the fact that it never mentions the currency the user allegedly used to spend 849.96.
Remember to always be careful with unsolicited emails that end up in your inbox and always double-check them for any similar red flags to avoid becoming the latest victim of a scam.
