Oopu ransomware is the name of a newly discovered ransomware clone that belongs to the Djvu family of variants - likely the most numerous group of ransomware versions at this point in time.

Oopu will encrypt the victim system, scrambling most files on it. The encryption process affects all commonly used file types, including executables that are not essential to Windows, documents, archives and media files.

Encrypted files receive the ".oopu" extension, appended after their old one. This process will turn a file called "image.jpg" into "image.jpg.oopu" upon encryption.
