Wat is Juli-ransomware?
Juli is een ransomware van de VoidCrypt-familie, die werd ontdekt tijdens het inspecteren van malwaremonsters die bij VirusTotal werden ingediend. Deze specifieke variant van ransomware versleutelt bestanden, voegt de ID van het slachtoffer, het e-mailadres juli1990@mailfence.com en een .Juli-extensie toe aan de bestandsnamen, en laat een losgeldbriefje voor unlock-info.txt achter.
De losgeldbrief instrueert slachtoffers om contact op te nemen met het e-mailadres juli1990@mailfence.com of juli1992@mailfence.com voor hulp bij het herstellen van hun bestanden en waarschuwt dat pogingen om ze te herstellen met software van derden permanente schade kunnen veroorzaken. De aanvallers bieden een gratis decoderingstool aan in ruil voor één bestand dat niet groter is dan 1 MB en waarde heeft voor het slachtoffer.
De notitie van Juli Ransomware luidt als volgt:
