LinearRadial Adware Joins Host of AdLoad Clones
Another week means another handful of AdLoad adware clones. The latest variant joining the family of AdLoad clones is called LinearRadial and its name is just as nonsensical ad those of most other clones.
AdLoad is a family of ad-supported software, including hundreds of differently named clones of what is essentially the same adware. All those variants have the same generic icon, designed to help the adware hide among your applications. They also function in the same way - delivering intrusive and potentially harmful ads to your Mac.
The biggest issue with this is that similar adware apps often partner up with rogue ad networks. This makes the ads delivered through them a potential threat. Advertising sourced from a rogue ad network may link to questionable adult content, scam pages, misleading websites and potentially unwanted app installers.
AdLoad clones have next to no persistence mechanisms, so uninstalling them is easy. Simply drag LinearRadial or another adware you find on your system onto your Trash and then empty the Trash. This should be enough to stop the extra ads being displayed in your browser of choice.
