'Ledger Live Update' Scam
Online con artists are actively targeting cryptocurrency users. In one of their latest scams, they are going for users of Ledger, a hardware cryptocurrency wallet. While this type of wallet is meant to enhance security, the scammers are not hesitating to target its users with an elaborate type of con. However, the crooks are not trying to penetrate the defenses of the user's Ledger. Instead, they are attempting to get them to download malware.
The 'Ledger Live Update' Scam is usually shown in pop-ups that urge the user to download a pending Ledger update in order to continue to be able to use their hardware wallet. The download is, however, a fake executable file, which could introduce dangerous malware such as a Remote Access Trojan, infostealer, or even ransomware. Although the exact payload has not been identified yet, it is very likely that the 'Ledger Live Update' Scam hackers are using an information stealer to hijack cryptocurrency wallets. The website that the 'Ledger Live Update' Scam uses is Officia-ledger.com. We assure you that this page is not affiliated with the official Ledger company. It was set up by cybercriminals, and its sole purpose is to propagate malware alongside the 'Ledger Live Update' Scam. If you encounter this scam, you should not download anything, and close the pop-ups immediately.
