'Last Warning: Upgrade your email to avoid Shutting Down' Email Scam

Another week, another rehash of a very old concept to build an email scam around. This week, the scam in question is referred to as the "Last Warning: Upgrade your email to avoid Shutting Down" email scam.

The gist of the scam here is that you will receive a malicious email, telling you that your email address is "due for general maintenance and upgrading". Now, if you're very confused about how exactly you upgrade an email, you'd be in the right. The email is intended to simply scare the victim and get them to click a link that leads to a fake phishing page that will ask for login details and simply steam the victim's account.

The full text of the scam email is as follows:

Recently we received some notifications regarding your account: [email], which might be due for general maintenance and upgrading.

We will ensure that we block your account if we do not hear from you. Please kindly click the link below to carry out the maintenance on your account.
